Mission Statement:
"Give to the Lord the glory He deserves! Bring your offering and come to worship Him. Worship the Lord in all His holy splendor." – I Chronicles 16:29
What a powerful verse of scripture! As a worship leader, my desire is to do just that—give to the Lord the glory He rightly deserves. Over the past couple of years, God has really taught me a lot about what true worship is. For the longest time, when I thought about worship, my immediate thought was that of music, but over time my thinking has changed. Music, though a primary and powerful tool in worship, is only one part of what true worship is; it is only one piece of the puzzle. True worship is defined by a lifestyle that completely reflects God in everything we do. From the time we get up, throughout the day, till the time we lay back to sleep—the question must arise, "Does my life point people to Christ?"
Above anything else, my passion is for people to encounter God in a new and fresh way when they worship. My prayer is that people experience freedom in worship: freedom to sing, lift their hands, shout to God in victory or sit still and crawl into the lap of our Father in comfort. My prayer is for repentance to fall over us as we worship, that we may turn from our selfishness, turn from our pride, and leave behind the idea of complacency in our walk with Him. Lastly, my prayer is for people to know that we have a loving God who longs to hear His children sing to Him. Many times when I lead, I remind people that we are singing love songs to our Father—songs that speak of adoration and honor to the One who gave us the ultimate love example.
With all of this said, we must never forget who we worship. It's so easy to get caught up in the latest song and forget whom we are singing about. Whether it's traditional, contemporary, or blended, God can be honored. Style doesn't matter to God-what matters to Him is the heart of the worshiper. My desire is that we understand the heart of worship—Jesus Christ. |

Truth. Hope. Compassion. Love. These are just a few themes that worship leader Chris Clayton desires to communicate through the music God has given him. Through his songs and leadership on and off stage Chris has a true desire and passion for people to live their lives each moment in wonder of the One who gives real life. "My prayer is that people will be reminded that we serve and worship a holy God who is more than we can ever fathom. Sometimes I feel that we often 'tip our hat' to God and go about our week without ever encountering Him and recognizing Him for the Holy One that He is." Clayton says.
Chris serves as a worship leader traveling the United States leading worship in various youth, college and young adult capacities. Since 2000, Chris has traveled on a full time basis with a heartbeat to lead authentic worship. "For me, it isn't about going out and pounding a Bible over a person's head, but instead striving to reflect God in everything I do. Worship is more about a lifestyle than any song written or any service on a Sunday morning.'
Chris first began leading in the local church with his student ministry. Later Chris attended Dallas Baptist University where he spent a good bit of his four years leading worship at both campus-wide Bible studies, as well as maintaining a steady travel schedule leading in various outside events. Since the beginning, God has blessed Chris with the opportunity to be a part of many events, including Disciple-NOW's, retreats, camps, rallies and revivals—leading hundreds of students and adults in worship.
His latest CD, "Anthems of the Mystery" is a look at where God has taken Chris over the last year. "These songs are meant to sing loud. That's what an anthem really is. Its a song sung by a great group of people who truly believe that they are singing about. Songs about creation, Christ's love and His glory....each calling us to pursue and discover more of Him. There is a since of who God is in that He is a mystery that ultimately leads us to long for him more."
Chris' songs have been featured on IndieHeaven's Top 20 WOrship Song Compilation, SPIN360.com (Student Praise Interactive Network), PraiseHymns Singers Club & Worship Leader Magazine's SongDiscovery Volume 84 coming out in May 2010.
In addition to touring, Chris works as a record producer/engineer and is a part of the worship/creative arts staff at 121 Community Church in Grapevine, TX. Chris Clayton resides in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area with his wife Kara and their four boys, Corbin, Callen, Cade and Cohen.
