Bio
With their debut album, "Road Somewhere,"
Leaving Shiloh is showing audiences just
how good it is to hear a genuine, hard-working
band again. With their thought-provoking
lyrics, melodic guitars, and driving rhythms,
Leaving Shiloh is taking their audiences
to a different place through their music.
"There are thousands of good bands
out there," comments Leaving Shiloh's
front man, Matthew Godfrey, "but
the key to retaining an audience is to
be different and unique."
And Leaving Shiloh owns that key. Their
style cannot be explained, and their musical
influences, at first glance, seem to be
contradicting. Classic rock and
blues heavily influence Matt, the band's
vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist.
Michael Johnson, Leaving Shiloh's bassist,
has a hard rock background. What
about the drummer, Jason McMillan? Jazz
and alternative rock. These
contrasting styles only add to the band's
unique sound, which makes Leaving Shiloh's
music all the more intriguing. Frequently,
listeners will comment to the band, "You
sound like..." or, "This is
kind of like..." But, no one can
quite put a finger on it. The only
answer to the question of who they sound
like is simple: Leaving Shiloh.
Leaving Shiloh has gone through many stages
and names, but the metamorphosis is complete.
They have been bringing audiences
back for three years now with their fast-paced
electric sets and reflective acoustic
sets, but audiences cannot quite pinpoint
what is is about the music that keeps
them coming. Is it the mesh of musical
sounds, or maybe the lyrics with which
everyone can connect? The Biblical
allusion in the name certainly fascinates
listeners. Whatever it is, it is certain
that there is only one Leaving Shiloh.
