Ministry
A lyric from a MustardSeed song entitled Contagious says, “When the Lord comes into your life, it’s contagious.” And it should be contagious. MustardSeed’s love for Jesus and enthusiasm in praising Him will encourage and lead other Christians in sincere, fervent praise and worship of our Heavenly Father. This kind of fellowship is contagious, infecting everyone around, which will lead the lost to Christ.

Bio
MustardSeed is a Christian hard rock band based in Jasper, Alabama. MustardSeed writes songs that are interlaced with heavy riffs, progressive arrangements, beautiful harmony and melody, and most importantly, lyrical testimonies that inspire praise and worship of our Heavenly Father. The band’s live performance is full of high energy and excitement for our Lord, making MustardSeed an act you don’t want to miss.

MustardSeed began at the end of 2005. Guitarist Jeremy Lockhart and vocalist Anthony “Doc” Eddy were leading praise and worship with keyboardist Gary Lockhart at Freedom Worship Church in Jasper, Alabama. Within a few months, Jeremy Lockhart was blessed by writing about twelve original songs. During this time, MustardSeed realized that God wanted more from this group of musicians.

Doc: “It’s amazing how God works. I started back singing trying to serve the Lord with all my heart. I knew the Lord had a plan for me, but I didn’t know what kind of plan. Shortly after MustardSeed started practicing together, we realized what the Lord was doing. He had started a ministry.”

Jeremy knew this was the right direction for the band.

Jeremy: “I’ve tried for many years to write songs, but they always just seemed silly or incomplete somehow. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t create a descent song until I wrote my first Christian song.”

To begin the ministry, the band needed a bassist and a drummer. Through prayer, God led MustardSeed to the solid rhythm section of bassist Paul Tucker and drummer Terry Blankensopp. You could say that God led the band to the past, because Jeremy, Paul, and Terry have worked together in the past in several secular rock bands.

Paul: “Though, I had put the bass down and quit playing for a while, God had been laying it on my heart for a long time to start a music ministry. I kept giving one excuse after the other. But, when I sat in at that first practice session with MustardSeed, I knew this was where God was leading me. You could feel the anointing. Through this ministry, we have gotten to see people of all ages get saved or rededicate their life. It’s amazing how God blesses you when you obey Him.”

Terry: “God has a path for all of us, and when I finally let go of my life and gave Him control, so many doors opened for me. MustardSeed was one of them. Paul, Jeremy, and I had played together, so the chemistry was there. I am so blessed to be playing music with my best friends.”

With the line-up complete, MustardSeed put together a large professional sound and light system and began playing at several churches in Alabama. Within about nine months, the band wrote 22 songs and recorded a 6 song EP / Demo titled, Movin’ Mountains. In addition, MustardSeed has performed at a high school, a community civic center, and Alabama Adventure Theme Park. MustardSeed has been a regular musical guest of a Christian live comedy show patterned after “Saturday Night Live” called, Saturday Night Life.

MustardSeed thanks God for calling on them to serve in His ministry and looks forward to each and every opportunity to be a witness of His awesome power and love.

Jesus rocks.
