Bio
Zach was born and raised in Nashville, TN where he went on to graduate from Vanderbilt Univeristy. While at Vandy, he served as a youth ministry intern at First Baptist Church Nashville for 3 years. He then served 4 years as a Naval Officer stationed in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Texas with 6 months in the Mediterranean Sea on patrol. Zach was a Navigator and Operations Officer aboard a patrol boat that was part of Naval Special Warfare supporting the SEALS. After 9/11, Zach's ship worked with the Coast Guard doing Maritime Homeland Defense. While in Virginia, Zach was a small group leader for high school guys and junior high guys at a growing church. He also regularly spoke at high school and college worship events and retreats. When he got out of the navy, Zach came on staff as an interim youth minister for several months and later as the assistant youth minister for about 4 months before moving to Birmingham to attend Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. After spending a year at seminary, and two summers as Camp Director for Infinty Sports Camps, Zach was led to coach football and basketball in Mountain Brook, AL where he began to lead community wide bible studies and discipleship groups. In 2005, Zach went on staff with Mountain Brook Baptist Church helping with the student ministry and preaching periodically in the contemporary worship service. In 2006, Zach founded Bigtime Ministries and is currently growing and developing Bigtime to be one of the most unique and exciting ministries in Alabama. Zach continues to coach 7th and 8th grade football and basketball at Mountain Brook Junior High.

“Skip, is incredibly gifted in ministering to students. It is unbelievably encouraging and refreshing to be a part of the retreats that he speaks at and organizes because every event and every talk you make is Christ centered. On Sunday I ran into a seventh grade guy that I was fortunate enough to have in my small group at the event in October. I saw him at my church, which he isn't a member of, and I asked him what he was doing and he responded, "I'm just looking for a church right now where I feel like God wants me to be." I was blown away with the maturity in this comment... from a seventh grader! Frequent conversations similar to this one with those who have been involved on some of Bigtime's retreats are awesome indicators of how God is using Zach Skipper and this ministry to establish strong foundations in Christ. I’m excited to see him continue to passionately and humbly deliver the gospel! He is doing an incredible job and has impacted A LOT of students in this community.”

“I have been blessed to minister alongside Zach week in and week out at
our church. His enthusiasm is contagious. He has a deep concern for going
after God with all of his heart in his own walk, and he does a great job of
encouraging others in their journey with Christ. As a worship leader,
it is a joy to use music to help others focus on God, knowing that Zach will
soon deliver a thought-provoking and challenging message of faith, hope, and
love. I truly cannot say enough good things about Zach. I hope I have
the opportunity to minister with him for years to come!”

"Zach Skipper energizes kids to follow Christ as a speaker, mentor, and friend like few people I have ever seen. Kids from my youth group literally came out of a retreat where he spoke several times with an immediate motivation to follow Jesus like I had not seen in my tenure. He's an incredibly gifted speaker who has a fire for Jesus and hearts, and his enthusiasm strongly influences those around him."
